Credentialing/Certification

Speaking Chinese does not equate with teaching it. The simplest way for administrators to recognize qualified teachers is to look for credentials or certification from authoritative organizations.

Credentialing. Faced with a shortage of prepared teachers, The CAIS Institute is now establishing a mechanism to credential both American and Chinese teachers. Chinese teachers will take part in CBEST and CSET preparation courses specifically tailored to help them pass their certification tests.

Apprentice Certification. The institute’s Teacher Apprentice Certification Program offers participants an intensive, hands-on classroom experience over several weeks. They will work with a master trainer, focusing on classroom teaching methodologies, curriculum development, evaluation, and assessment tools. Participants will also learn how to create and maintain a sustainable Chinese language program.

The institute will work with other established organizations for the mutual recognition of credentials and certification, so that administrators accessing our database will be assured that candidates are prepared to meet the needs of their students and families.
