Intermediate I Chinese
This class is designed for students with 2 years of Chinese instruction. The focus of this class is to build conversational and listening skills through a content-based curriculum. Lesson plans reinforce acquired language skills and will engage students in activities such as role-playing, skits, and movie appreciation. Students will participate in reading and writing exercises designed to build their vocabulary and grammar skills as well as composition of short essays.
Course goals include building verbal confidence and developing fluency, along with cultivating an appreciation of China’s rich cultural tradition through a special linguistic experience. At the end of this class, students will have the option of taking the Standards-based Measurement of Proficiency Test (STAMP) to have their language skills formally assessed.
Fall Semester: September 27, 2008- December 6, 2008 (10 weeks)
Spring Semester: January 17, 2009- April 4, 2009 (10 weeks)
Saturdays, 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
No class on November 29, January 24, March 14
